No formal Year 12 subject prerequisites; assumed knowledge may still apply.

What you will study

The program combines primary curriculum units across the key learning areas with pedagogy, educational psychology, sociology for educators and teaching content knowledge, with particular emphasis on building capacity in literacy, numeracy and science. School-based professional experience placements run through the degree in a range of primary school settings. Students must meet the standard on the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE) before the third year of study and before the final professional experience placement.

Placement and industry experience

Professional experience placements are completed in a variety of primary school settings across the degree. The LANTITE literacy and numeracy test must be passed before the third year of study, ahead of the final placement. Students also need a NSW Working with Children Check before going into schools.
