What student life looks like
UniSC runs five campuses across South East Queensland. Sippy Downs, the founding site on Kabi Kabi Country, is the largest and houses most undergraduate teaching, set on 100 hectares of parkland 90 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD. Moreton Bay, opened in 2020 at Petrie, is a growing campus designed to serve the new Moreton Bay region and connects to the Petrie train line. Caboolture, Gympie and Fraser Coast (Hervey Bay) house smaller cohorts focused on nursing, education and social work. UniSC was established in 1996, making it one of the youngest universities in Australia, and has grown rapidly with the population of South East Queensland. Accommodation runs through UniSC Residences at Sippy Downs (with the on-campus Varsity apartments) and is in growing supply at Moreton Bay. The University of the Sunshine Coast Student Council runs around 40 clubs. Most students commute on the regional bus network and the Sunshine Coast rail extension is planned to connect Sippy Downs into the South East Queensland network. The brand is regional access on a fast-growing coast, with strong health, education, business and animal ecology programmes.
