What you will study
First year covers the professional foundations: financial accounting, microeconomics and macroeconomics, business statistics, business law and an introduction to finance. The quantitative load is heavier than the general business degree, and classes at Sippy Downs are kept small so students get close support through the technical subjects. Second year you build your major in accounting, finance or financial planning. Accounting students work through management accounting, company accounting, auditing and taxation law, mapping to the CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ knowledge areas. Finance students study corporate finance, investments and financial markets. Third year features advanced major subjects, an integrated capstone and a work-integrated learning placement with a regional accounting firm, bank or business. Completing the accredited accounting sequence makes you eligible to begin the CPA or CA professional programmes after graduation.
