What you will study

The UQ BBus is a three-year program taught from St Lucia. Year one is a transdisciplinary business core covering introductory economics, accounting for decision-making, marketing, management principles, business statistics, and one to two electives. UQ runs first-year lecture cohorts of 200 plus with tutorial groups of 20 to 30 students. From year two students select a single major (Advertising, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing, Management, Real Estate and Development, Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management) and stack discipline electives. Year three is heavy on case competitions, capstone strategy units and an applied consulting or industry project. The BBus is differentiated from the UQ BCom by lower compulsory accounting and finance and broader management, HR and marketing content. Group work intensifies from second year, with most assessment in upper-year units project-based rather than exam-based.
