Starting Year 12 in Tasmania in 2027: A TCE guide
Quick answer
If you finish the TCE in 2027, your ATAR comes from your best scaled Level 3 and 4 course results worth 60 to 75 points, taken from any two years of senior study, so strong Year 11 results already count. How is the Tasmanian ATAR calculated?
- Eligibility. Achieve the TCE and get Satisfactory Achievement or better in at least four Level 3 or 4 courses over at least two years after Year 10. University of Tasmania HAP and UCP units can count.
- Scaling. Each year TASC scales every Level 3 and 4 course, giving each award a range of course scores.
- TE Score. Your best scaled results worth 60 to 75 points are added up (each Level 3 or 4 course is 15 points, so five full courses reach the 75-point maximum).
- ATAR. Your TE Score is converted to an ATAR based on how it ranks against other students that year, and TASC publishes each year's TE Score to ATAR conversion table.
- Who sets the rules. The University of Tasmania, as Tasmania's tertiary admissions centre.
