When to start TASC past exam papers for Year 12 (2027)

Where do TASC past papers live?

Everything official is on the TASC website:

On this site, each subject has an exam page with strategy and practice, for example Mathematics Methods exam, English exam, Chemistry exam, Biology exam and Physics exam. The TCE exams overview lists the rest.

When should I start?

Term 1 to Term 3: topic by topic. As soon as your class finishes a topic, find the past exam questions that assess that criterion and do them. TASC exams are organised around criteria (for example, the Mathematics Methods exam assessed five named criteria), so it's easy to pull out the relevant questions. This shows you early how TASC asks about each idea.

Final weeks before November: full timed papers. Once you've covered all the external criteria, sit complete papers under exam conditions. Written exams in 2027 run from Monday 8 to Thursday 18 November, so plan your full-paper practice for the weeks before. Check your school's calendar for any practice exams it runs.

How should I use assessment reports and specifications?

• Read the External Assessment Specifications first. They tell you which criteria are examined and how the exam is structured, so you know what the papers are testing.
• Mark against the criteria. Your award comes from criterion ratings, so after each attempt ask which A, B or C standard your answer meets, using the standards in the course document.
• Read the assessment report after you attempt a paper. It tells you what markers noticed, including common mistakes. Turn each comment into a flashcard or a checklist item.
• Redo what you got wrong a week later, without looking at your first attempt.

Are older papers still useful?

Mostly, but read them with care. TASC warns that because of course reaccreditation, amendments to course documents and updates to the External Assessment Specifications, older papers may not match current assessment requirements. It also notes that 2020 exams included adjustments for COVID-19 and aren't directly comparable with other years.

Before using an older paper:

1. Check which course code and version it was written for.
2. Compare its criteria with your current course document.
3. Skip or adapt questions on content no longer in the course.

Can I share TASC papers?

TASC says its past papers are "provided for reference only". Download them from TASC directly and don't re-upload or sell them; check TASC's copyright terms on its website if you want to reuse any material.
