WACE results checks, reviews and appeals (2026)

For what each document shows, read understanding your WACE results and ATAR first. Many "errors" turn out to be the expected gap between SCSA's course marks and TISC's scaled scores.

Who handles what

Can I appeal my school mark or grade?

Yes, but only on process, not on your teacher's judgement. SCSA requires every school to have a senior secondary assessment policy and to give you a chance to query a school assessment.

1. School review first. Raise it with your school under its assessment policy. SCSA won't consider an appeal until the school's review is complete.
2. Appeal to SCSA. If it isn't resolved, you (or a parent on your behalf) can lodge a Student Appeal against School Assessment application using the online form on SCSA's website.

Reviews and appeals look at whether:

• your school's assessment outline meets the syllabus requirements;
• the school's assessment policy meets SCSA's guidelines;
• the school followed its own policy; and
• there were procedural errors in allocating the grade, or computational errors in working out the school mark.

SCSA's Year 12 Information Handbook names the last day to lodge an appeal against school assessment. Check the 2026 handbook or ask your school's WACE coordinator, and act quickly once results are out.

What about my ATAR course exam marks?

SCSA sets and marks the ATAR course exams. According to SCSA, each exam is marked independently by at least two markers, supervised by team leaders and/or a chief marker, who see only your WA student number, not your name or school. If the markers disagree and can't resolve it, a team leader and/or the chief marker re-marks the paper before your final mark is decided.

We could not confirm the 2026 details (what can be checked, the deadline and any fee), so read that handbook or email SCSA at wacehelp@scsa.wa.edu.au before assuming anything.

If illness or misadventure affected you during the exams, that is handled through SCSA's sickness/misadventure process at exam time, not as an appeal after results.

How do I get my ATAR checked?

TISC's calendar lists Monday 4 January 2027 as the closing deadline to request a check of your ATAR and the admission requirements advice on your UAAL. Use TISC's website or contact TISC directly.

Before you ask, check:

• that you have at least four scaled scores (you need four for an ATAR);
• that the 10% bonuses for Mathematics Methods, Mathematics Specialist and a language are included if you took them;
• whether a scaled score from an earlier year is being counted (TISC counts each course once and uses your best score if you repeat it).

Circumstances, not errors

If your ATAR is accurate but your year was disrupted by illness, family or financial problems, an appeal is the wrong tool. Apply to TISC's Education Access Scheme instead. The second round deadline is 5 pm, Friday 8 January 2027, ahead of second round offers on Wednesday 20 January 2027. Offers are made by the universities, so if you have questions about why you did or didn't get one, contact that university's admissions team.
