What student life looks like
The main UOW campus sits at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment in north Wollongong, a 75-minute train ride south of Sydney. The campus is a leafy single site, anchored by the Innovation Campus research precinct across the highway and the Sydney Business School site at Circular Quay. Regional campuses extend the footprint into Bega, Batemans Bay, Shoalhaven and Liverpool in southwest Sydney, and an international campus operates in Dubai. Accommodation runs through Campus East, Kooloobong Village, International House, Weerona College and Marketview, giving UOW a strong on-campus residential community for a regional uni. The University of Wollongong Students Council and UniClubs run more than 90 clubs. UniLife on campus, the UniBar and the lake precinct anchor day-to-day student life. Most students commute on the South Coast train line, the campus shuttle bus or by car from across the Illawarra. The brand is small-cohort teaching in a research-active university with strong engineering and IT industry partnerships across the Illawarra steel and defence sectors.
