Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
at University of Wollongong, New South Wales.
A four-year honours engineering degree at Wollongong, accredited by Engineers Australia. All majors, including the Flexible First Year shown here, shared the same lowest selection rank. The assumed knowledge is Mathematics Advanced and any 2 units of English.
Lowest selection rank
The lowest selection rank (LSR) is the lowest ATAR plus adjustment factors (equity, subject and regional bonuses) that received an offer to the UOW Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) for that intake. Universities publish it in their admissions student profiles. Only intakes with a published figure are listed.
| Intake | Lowest selection rank | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 75.40 | uac.edu.au |
| 2024 | 75.00 | uac.edu.au |
| 2022 | 78.05 | uac.edu.au |
A lowest selection rank describes a past intake, not a guaranteed entry score. Check the current entry requirements on the official course page before you apply through UAC.
Prerequisite Year 12 subjects
No formal Year 12 subject prerequisites; assumed knowledge may still apply.
What you will study
First year covers fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, physics, computing, engineering science and communication, and mechanics and materials. From second year students focus on a major such as biomedical, civil, computer and autonomous systems, electrical and electronics, environmental, materials or mechanical engineering. UOW recommends Engineering Studies, Mathematics Extension 1, Physics and Chemistry (Chemistry is not needed for biomedical, computer, electrical, mechatronic or telecommunications engineering). A research thesis is completed in the final stages.
Placement and industry experience
Students complete 12 weeks of industry experience in one or more settings under the supervision of experienced engineers, with optional internships and industry projects.
Career outcomes
- Graduates work as professional engineers in civil, mechanical, electrical, mining and software roles after gaining Engineers Australia registration.

Is this the right degree for you?
You probably thrive here if
- Students who excelled in Year 12 maths (typically Extension 1 or Extension 2) and physics
- Those who enjoy building and problem solving in teams
- People aiming for chartered engineering status and a long technical career
- Students happy to do industry placement during summers
- Those willing to manage demanding workloads across four years
It is probably not for you if
- Students wanting a three-year degree with light maths
- Those who dislike laboratory and design-studio work
- Anyone uncomfortable with high contact hours (typically 22 to 28 per week)
