QCE results day, QTAC offers and changing preferences (2026 to 2027)
QCAA releases 2026 subject results at 9 am on Wednesday 16 December in the myQCE Student Portal, and QTAC releases ATARs at 9 am on Friday 18 December in the ATAR Portal. You then have until 12 pm on Monday 21 December to change preferences for QTAC's offer round on Wednesday 23 December (from 11 am). The next rounds are 14 January 2027 (preferences by 11.45 pm, 7 January) and 21 and 28 January.
Before results
- Apply by Monday 7 December 2026. QTAC's guideline date to apply and submit documents for the December and January rounds. It doesn't guarantee an offer, but applying late can mean you aren't assessed in time.
- Register for the ATAR Portal with your LUI and a personal (not school) email address. If you're eligible, your ATAR is calculated whether or not you register, but you need an account to see it.
- Check your VET is recorded. Completed VET qualifications should show as "Completed" in your QCAA learning account by the end of November so they can be included in the December ATAR calculation.

Your QCE results and your ATAR are separate documents from separate organisations. ATAR results are not emailed to you, although you can opt in to a notification when they're released.

Preference changes close before each round and reopen once offers are released. Some institutions made earlier Year 12 offers in rounds from September to November 2026; see QCE early offers.
Only save preferences when you're sure. QTAC says your first three saves are free and later changes incur a fee. You can list up to six preferences; using all six maximises your chances of an offer.
Using your preferences well
- Compare selection ranks. Adjustment factors from each institution (for example for a language or Specialist Mathematics, equity, or location) can raise your selection rank for a course. They don't change your ATAR.
- Check prerequisites. Most prerequisites need a C or better in the General subject at Units 3 and 4; some need a B.
- Order by genuine preference, with at least one realistic option.
If you think your ATAR is wrong
QTAC's ATAR appeal period runs from release on 18 December 2026 until 31 January 2027. It's only for cases where you believe QTAC didn't calculate your ATAR under its published rules. Questions about a subject result go to QCAA.
