WACE Business Management and Enterprise (BME) is the SCSA ATAR course about how businesses grow internationally, manage change, plan strategically and compete in global markets. In Year 12, Units 3 and 4 are assessed through school-based tasks and a 3-hour written ATAR exam.

- Unit 3: strategic international business growth. The need for global expansion and change management, the opportunities provided by the global environment, and the factors that drive international business development.
- Unit 4: global business operations. How businesses operate strategically, the features and traits of successful management, the significance of strategic planning, and competitive advantage.

The 2026 exam
- When: Wednesday 11 November 2026, 9.20 am session (SCSA 2026 Year 12 ATAR course written examinations timetable).
- Length: 10 minutes reading and 3 hours working time.
- Content: a representative sample of Units 3 and 4. Recent SCSA papers combine short answer and extended answer questions; check the examination design brief in the current syllabus.
How the final mark is made
Your school's moderated school-based assessment mark and your standardised exam mark are combined 50:50 into your final course mark, which TISC scales for the ATAR.

Study strategy
- Learn each model with an example. For Lewin, SWOT and Porter's five forces, know the parts, how to apply them, and their limitations.
- Follow real businesses. Pick two Australian businesses that trade overseas and track their news for examples of expansion, change and strategy.
- Answer to the command word. "Explain", "discuss" and "evaluate" need different depth; use SCSA's glossary of key words.
- Use SCSA past papers and examination reports under timed conditions.
- Link content areas. Many extended answers combine the environment (why), management (what the business does) and people (how change is managed).
