Lowest selection rank
The lowest selection rank (LSR) is the lowest ATAR plus adjustment factors (equity, subject and regional bonuses) that received an offer to the WSU Bachelor of Medical Science for that intake. Universities publish it in their admissions student profiles. Only intakes with a published figure are listed.

Prerequisite Year 12 subjects
No formal Year 12 subject prerequisites; assumed knowledge may still apply.
What you will study
Students build foundations in chemistry, biology, human anatomy and physiology, then specialise through majors in anatomy and physiology, biomedical science or human nutrition. A double major is possible, for example human nutrition with innovative foods. Western recommends at least two of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics Advanced at school. Depending on electives, graduates may meet the membership requirements of various professional bodies.

Is this the right degree for you?
You probably thrive here if
- Students aiming for graduate medicine or other clinical postgraduate degrees
- Those who enjoyed Year 12 chemistry, biology and (ideally) physics
- People comfortable with intensive laboratory work
- Students willing to keep a high GPA across three years for postgraduate entry
- Those open to a research career if clinical pathways dont open
It is probably not for you if
- Students wanting clinical patient contact in the undergraduate years
