UQ medicine interview (MMI): format and dates

UQ uses an online multiple mini-interview with 8 stations for school-leaver medicine applicants (2027 entry). Details are from UQ's own pages, checked on 7 October 2026.

Last checked against the official sources.

UQ interviews school-leaver medicine applicants with a multiple mini-interview (MMI) held by video, with 8 stations (2027 entry). Australian Year 12 and IB students apply through Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), and UQ says interviews are scheduled for mid to late November 2026. Details are from UQ's pages, checked on 7 October 2026, and can change.

Domestic school leavers (2027 entry)

UQ asks applicants who are currently completing Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate in Australia to apply through QTAC.

  • UQ uses a multiple mini-interview (MMI) in the year you apply. MMIs are held by video conferencing.
  • You meet a different assessor at each station, and each assessor's score contributes to your overall admissions rank. UQ says it assesses qualities such as kindness and compassion, integrity, adaptability and verbal communication.
  • UQ's pre-interview briefing pack (version 2.2, 2026) says there are 8 stations, with 2 minutes of silent reading and then up to 7 minutes to respond to each scenario. It says UQ does not use acting or role-play stations.
  • Applicants are selected for interview on their UCAT ANZ aggregate score. UQ says it is reviewing how the aggregate will be calculated for interview selection and will publish an update, so check its page.
  • UQ says at least 50 per cent of domestic applicants invited to the MMI will be Queensland Year 12 students.

Domestic dates published (2027 entry)

  • QTAC emails interview invitations. UQ says to check all inboxes, including junk and spam.
  • MMIs are scheduled for mid to late November 2026.
  • UQ gives no offer date for QTAC applicants on this page. Check QTAC and your UQ communications.
  • Check QTAC for its closing dates.

Applicants who apply directly to UQ

UQ says applicants who are not currently completing Australian Year 12 or the IB apply directly to UQ, and this is the route that applies to international applicants. The MMI format is the same for all UQ pathways, per the briefing pack.

  • The direct application closing date, 30 September 2026, has passed.
  • UQ says it emails interview invitations in mid to late October 2026, holds interviews in mid to late November 2026, and emails offers in mid-December 2026.

How to prepare

We do not publish stations from real interviews, and we do not predict what you will be asked. Start with UQ's briefing pack and example MMI. If you want thinking practice, try our original practice scenarios. Some universities say they do not endorse commercial interview coaching, so weigh any paid preparation carefully.
