UNSW interviews domestic school-leaver applicants face to face, with two interviewers, on the Kensington campus (2027 entry). Rural pathway interviews are held at a rural clinical campus. Dates are from UNSW's domestic applicants page, checked on 7 October 2026, and can change, so confirm on the link before you plan.

Domestic applicants (2027 entry)

UNSW treats Australian and New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents and holders of a permanent Australian humanitarian visa as domestic applicants.

  • The interview is structured and covers a wide range of relevant topics, with two interviewers who are academic staff, medical practitioners or community representatives.
  • General entry interviews are face to face on the Kensington campus. UNSW says there are about 350 interview places for general entry each year.
  • Interview offers are made on selection rank and UCAT ANZ overall score only. UNSW says your results are not averaged, so you need sufficiently high marks on both.
  • Rural Entry Admission Pathway interviews are face to face at the Rural Clinical Campus closest to your home address: Wagga Wagga, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour or Albury.
  • Once an interview is scheduled, UNSW does not allow rescheduling. An alternative time may be offered if available, but it cannot be guaranteed.

Domestic dates published (2027 entry)

  • Rural Entry Admission Pathway interviews: 23 to 27 November 2026.
  • General entry invitations: 16 December 2026, the day Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) releases the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) results, for applicants whose results are finalised.
  • General entry interviews: 17 to 22 December 2026.
  • Applicants whose results were finalised late are invited on 7 January 2027 and interview on 12 to 13 January 2027. A final round on 18 January 2027 is for New Zealand applicants with late results only.
  • January Round 1 offers are released through UAC on 8 January 2027, and Round 2 on 21 January 2027.
  • The UAC closing date for on-time applications, 30 September 2026, has passed.

International applicants

UNSW has a separate page for international applicants. It says all international interviews are online by Zoom with two interviewers, that international applicants are ranked for interview on academic results and UCAT ANZ overall score or ISAT score, that there are about 300 interview places, and that interviews run monthly from June to January. Check the international page for the current details.

How to prepare

We do not publish stations from real interviews, and we do not predict what you will be asked. Read what UNSW itself says about its interview first. If you want thinking practice, try our original practice scenarios. Some universities say they do not endorse commercial interview coaching, so weigh any paid preparation carefully.

ExamExplained is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the university or the UCAT ANZ Consortium. We are run alongside a tutoring business (see /about); the university's own page always comes first.
