University of Sydney medicine Assessment Day: format and dates
The University of Sydney's double degree medicine pathway uses an Assessment Day with a group interview and a written assessment, and does not require the UCAT ANZ (2027 entry). Dates may change.

The University of Sydney selects school leavers for its double degree medicine pathway with an Assessment Day after the release of the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), which includes a group interview and a written assessment (2027 entry). Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) lists the UCAT ANZ as not required. Sydney says its 2027 dates may be subject to change and should be used as a guide. Checked on 7 October 2026.
Domestic school leavers (2027 entry)
- Sydney says you must meet its ATAR requirement (99.95 or equivalent, with different minimums for some admission pathways) to be invited to an Assessment Day.
- Eligible applicants are invited to an assessment after their ATAR (or other secondary qualification) results are released. Sydney's course page says it is conducted online and includes a group interview and a written assessment.
- UAC says eligible domestic applicants must attend the assessment in person at the university, although it also headlines the days as online. The two pages differ, so check Sydney's current instructions in your invitation.
- UAC lists the UCAT ANZ as not required for this pathway.
- Once invited, you must attend the first Assessment Day after your results are released. Sydney says you cannot choose another.
Domestic dates published (2027 entry)
Sydney says dates for 2027 entry may be subject to change and should be used as a guide.
- Assessment Day 1: 18 December 2026. The UAC preference deadline is 13 December 2026. Invitations go out by email on the morning of ATAR release, 16 December 2026, after 9am. You must reply to accept by 2pm on 17 December 2026.
- Assessment Day 2: 18 January 2027. The UAC preference deadline is 10 January 2027. Invitations go out on 14 January 2027 after 9am, and you must accept by 2pm on 15 January 2027.
- Offers: December Round 2 and January Round 2, per UAC.
International applicants
Sydney runs separate online assessments for international applicants. The course page lists 23 September 2026 (past), 2 December 2026 and 28 January 2027, with 31 October 2026 as the last day to submit a direct international application. Sydney lists about 30 domestic and 10 international places a year across its double degrees. Check Sydney's page for the current process.
