Newcastle and New England Joint Medical Program assessment: format and dates
The Joint Medical Program uses a Multiple Skills Assessment, a circuit of stations, for 2027 entry. Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) and the University of Newcastle differ on when invitations go out, and UAC itself lists two overlapping assessment windows, so check the JMP pages (checked 7 October 2026).

The Newcastle and New England Joint Medical Program (JMP) selects applicants with a Multiple Skills Assessment (MSA), a circuit of stations, for 2027 entry. Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) and the University of Newcastle differ on when invitations go out, and UAC itself lists two overlapping assessment windows, so check the JMP pages on the Newcastle and New England websites before you plan. Details were checked on 7 October 2026 and can change.
What the programs publish (2027 entry)
- The JMP assessment is a Multiple Skills Assessment (MSA), with a Personal Qualities Assessment run during it (UAC).
- Newcastle's FAQ says MSA is the name now used for what was called the multi-mini interview, and describes a circuit of several stations where you discuss scenarios with an interviewer or take part in activities.
- UAC says your UCAT ANZ performance determines whether you are invited to the JMP assessment. The JMP is offered jointly, and you choose Newcastle or New England when you make your direct JMP application.
- Because the sources differ on invitations and list overlapping assessment windows, treat every date below as something to confirm. The JMP pages on the Newcastle and New England websites come first.
Domestic dates published (2027 entry)
- The direct JMP application closing date, 30 September 2026, has passed.
- Invitations: UAC lists early November 2026. Newcastle's FAQ says applicants who score at the required level receive an invitation by mid-November. Watch your email, including junk, from early November.
- UAC lists the MSA from 23 November to 4 December 2026 for NSW, ACT, QLD and all rural applicants, and mid-January 2027 for interstate non-rural applicants.
- The same UAC page lists interviews and assessments for all other applicants from 30 November to 11 December 2026. This overlaps but does not match the MSA window above, so check which applies to you.
- UAC lists offers in January Round 1 for most applicants, and December Round 2 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
International applicants
This page does not give an international process for the JMP. International applicants should read the international pages on the Newcastle and New England websites.
Source: UAC medicine key dates for the dates and the assessment names, and the University of Newcastle's AskUON pages on invitations, interview dates and what the MSA is. We checked these on 7 October 2026. See the explorer for the rest of this program's entry rules.
How to prepare
We do not publish stations from real interviews, and we do not predict what you will be asked. Read the JMP pages first. If you want thinking practice, try our original practice scenarios. Some universities say they do not endorse commercial interview coaching, so weigh any paid preparation carefully.
ExamExplained is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the university or the UCAT ANZ Consortium. We are run alongside a tutoring business (see /about); the university's own page always comes first.
