Year 10 entry for 2028 is open now: QAHS applications close 4pm Friday 26 February 2027 (test Saturday 13 March 2027) and QACI closes 4pm Friday 4 June 2027 (test Saturday 19 June 2027). Only one application can be made in a calendar year, so choose the campus first. For Year 7 entry in 2028 the on-time fee is $270 and the late fee is $300, both non-refundable.
What is official
Queensland Academies says entry is through a selective entry applications process. Its Entrance Test Policy names the Science Mathematics and Technology, Creative Industries and Health Sciences academies as test venues. The Academies say only 1 application can be submitted in a calendar year, so families must choose their campus before applying.
The Entrance Test Policy says tests are run by an independent testing organisation selected by Queensland Academies, currently Edutest. Edutest is an outside company that also sells its own practice material. We do not sell or copy it and endorse none of it.
Format
The Year 7 page says the test takes about 3 hours across five parts: verbal reasoning (30 minutes), numerical reasoning (30 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes), mathematics (30 minutes) and written expression (15 minutes). Edutest marks the tests. For applicants with approved access arrangements, the policy describes an alternate sitting, supervised by Queensland Academies staff, where multiple choice subtests are completed on a provided laptop.

Year 7 is the entry point and the on-time process is designed for students in Year 5. Dates for Year 7 entry in 2029 are not yet published.
The policy says test dates or windows are "scheduled and published at the time applications are made available". Registration must happen within three days of receiving an invitation and before the published test registration close date.
