how do we respond, and how well do those responses work?Show answer
Management operates through two broad strategies and a coordinating layer. Mitigation tackles the causes, for example cutting greenhouse-gas emissions by shifting to renewable energy, improving efficiency, protecting forests as carbon sinks, and changing consumption. Adaptation reduces vulnerability to changes that are already happening or unavoidable, for example building sea walls, changing what farmers plant, improving bushfire warning systems, or relocating infrastructure.
