Intertextuality and allusion in adaptations: VCE Literature Unit 3 Area of Study 1
Define Intertextuality
Intertextuality is the way a text produces meaning through its relationship to other texts. In an adaptation the relationship is explicit and chosen: allusion gestures at the source, echo repeats it, omission withholds part of it, and inversion reverses it.
